Final Post

Unfortunately at this point in time, I need to withdraw myself from our class. I was very happy to meet you all, thank you for sharing your lives, tweets, and blogs with me! Have a wonderful quarter, I hope to see you all around :)

Weekly Play: CLMOOC Media

All the Tunes You Can Handle!

My husband and I regularly make CD's for each other, mixes to listen to on our car trips and driving home in traffic. We both do all the music mixing/remixing ourselves and the CD art as well. Here is a pair I just recently made...

Weekly Play: Oops

This weekend is Officially Catch-Up-On-Everything-Weekend!

I know it's only week 4. I know I'm old enough to know better. I know I'm an adult now and should be on top of things like homework... It is, I do, I'm not. :(

*SIGH*

Despite these things, I've fallen behind. So, I do apologize to all of you, considering your Twitter feeds are about to blow up.

Alice...

Ok, I know I'm a week behind, but my husband and I played together and I need to talk about this "Alice" thing...

Yes, it was loud. (Since there is no audio for the words, I just turned everything down really far.)

Yes, it was noisy. (They used audio frequency feedback when things like a microphone or cell phone gets too close to an amp or computer)

Yes, the "game" portions were unreasonably difficult and seemingly useless, causing you to need Brad's help in order to complete them, even though you made the exact same moves and got a different outcome.

No, I didn't play all 5 episodes. Only 4 of them would load.

No, I don't think this stuff is appropriate for any child under the age of 12ish. There are too many misappropriated ideas shoved awkwardly into these "Episodes". All which encourage dangerous (and even potentially illegal) behavior. They also paint some groups of people in a bad light.

No, I would not recommend this to anyone I know, especially not a teacher.

No, the title doesn't make sense. If Alice is "Inanimate" then she better not move the entire time.

Other than teaching me about something to avoid, and to create discussion, I genuinely don't see the value of this poorly made "video game".  I could discuss the quality of the game itself all day, but I'll spare you all my continued ranting.

Overall, I'd really like to get those 2 hours of my life back.

Getting On Track

So far I've struggled with registration, getting books, and getting on track...

It doesn't matter if you've just started college, or if you've done this for a few years already. Even if you're coming back to school or if you did it for awhile and took a break. This can be tough for everyone.

I'm ready to get on track and be ready to go, but I'm not gonna lie, it's hard. Life outside of these walls is a whole other battle. Meshing them is something I can sometimes forget how to do, but the key is to not give up and always ask for help. Make friends, ask questions, don't be afraid to ask for help from your instructors or other students.

YOU CAN DO IT! :D

New Journey, New Discoveries

For those of you who are new, welcome! For the rest of you, welcome back!

I've gotten into the University of Washington, my dream school! I'm super excited for our Digital Literacy class, so now is the time to discuss Education. For anyone that knows me, Education is a ginormous part of my life. I want to be an Educator, and my journey through College has been an adventurous one. Through all this technology has played a significant role. I attended an all-online University for 3 years, I build my own computers, and I could talk about video games (how to make them, console wars, specific games, etc) aaaaaall day! I even had a video game wedding, complete with Legend of Zelda wedding rings.

I'm really excited for this class, learning and experimenting with different forms of teaching and learning through tech. I'm stoked to get to know my fellow students, and hopefully make some friends. Thanks for reading, see y'all again real soon!
